About Vintage Garb

Garb Plus Vintage & Halloween Costuming

Vintage means "with history", therefore vintage clothing is not new, although the item may have never been worn. Unless otherwise stated, all clothing on this site is vintage or pre-owned and all sales are final. Vintage clothing items are one-of-a-kind. Many items are designer fashions. The garment in the photo is the one you are purchasing. Authentic Living History and SCA period garb will be defined as such. All clothing is cleaned before posting unless brand new. Buttons and zippers are intact. Fabric does not contain holes or tears. We do not sell damaged clothing beyond gentle reasonable wear.

Vintage clothing never goes out of style. But after you have invested so much of your time to find the perfect outfit, how will you make sure your outfit looks fresh and wrinkle-free as well as stylish? Being able to look classy at a party while still looking different from everyone else means you have to not only get a outfit with great style, it has to look like it hasn’t been stuffed in an attic trunk since 1930!

When you want to take care of getting the wrinkles out of vintage clothing at home, a steamer is your best option. It took you forever to find the perfect outfit, and you cannot risk sending something so precious to a dry cleaner that will treat your vintage outfit the same way he treats everyday clothing. By steaming your retro clothing you can ensure it looks off-the-rack fresh while still retaining all the style and panache of being a truly vintage garment.

Almost any piece of clothing that could be considered vintage is delicate, but don’t forget that along with age there is the original condition of the garment to worry about. If your outfit was hand wash only to begin with, once it has aged to the point of being vintage it’s necessary to be that much more careful. After hand washing and laying your vintage clothing flat to dry, you will probably still find wrinkles where you don’t want them. A hand steamer is the safest, most convenient way to get the wrinkles out without endangering your retro clothing.
